My take, awesome streams 'calculated' by a bunch of different criteria. I think it's pretty complicated.
Last.fm - Catalogues the tunes you listen to, and keeps track of the 'soundtrack of your life.' It's a plugin for the media player of your choice that broadcasts what you are jammin in real time (or batch) to the mothership. So you could say, I listed to the Old 97's 186 times the first week in June, etc. You can also 'tag' your tunes and create playlists from them via the web. Awesome stuff!
