The Excited Southerner At A Job Interview

Here are the 4 groups of people who consistently apply for these jobs, in no particular order.

The College Kid that Thinks He Knows Everything - Yea, you know, the ones who know the terminology, who are book smart, who lack experience, but if the world was an idealists bubble, they'd probably big time excel. Unfortunately they have no idea that the world is a big cluster-fuck, and they've just inherited the responsibility. Thumbs down for two reasons, not enough experience to make practical decisions correctly, and two pompous know it all mentality just cause they've read a f*ckin' book or two.

The Old Smart Dudes - Dudes and dudettes that come thru with PHD's in World History that have picked up database management techniques as a 'hobby.' Probably 10 times smarter than me, and I am interested in what William the Conqueror did back in 1286, but not when a project timeline is at stake, and when I have to dip down in the trenches and cover asses. A wealth of knowledge, just not conducive to a 'get things done' attitude. Most of these people suffer from 'analysis paralysis.'

The Insiders - These are the tricky ones, the ones that prefer to work up the company food chain. They know the history of the organization, which can be a plus or minus, to an extent the personalities are known, therefore instant bias. Some people like 'yes men', personally I like the people who ask questions such as 'What the f*ck are you doing?"

The Doer's - These are the people who move the stone. They are the blips on the radar you find in any bureaucratic organization that get the job done. These people have common sense and the ability to get the job done and not make excuses, regardless of what kind sort of f*cked up situation they are thrown into. Education don't make a f*ck with these people, it's a state of mind. A college degree doesn't necessarily teach you how to reason, how to methodologically approach a problem, and come to the best compromised solutions. These people I can spot from a mile away, and they bring a huge smile to my face :)

The people who know what they are talking about give clear concise and relevant answers to open ended question, and the people who like to hear themselves talk, and resort to quantity over quality make me resort to 'happy land,' of beer, girls, bands, bars and guacamole.
