When you have Under Seige II on the tele with Steven Segal speaking in Italian, and surrounded by the marvals of nature, and looking at your best buddy, it's great bonding, but lonely in many ways, especially if you are one with romantic dreams.
Well me and Manuel ventured to downtown Sterzing and saw lots of nuns walking to church, as they were probably thinking 'damn tourists.'
Then we hiked on this big mountain and took a picture up there. One thing I remeber clearly was sitting down up there drinking a coke and eating a pretzel and hearing Macy Grey's 'I Try' on the radio. Guess you can't escape the American Pop anywhere you go!
The place was awesome, from here we took a train to Venice, which I'll blog about one of these days. Lots of funny commentary from that trip.
Its amazing thing, the senses, I was using Irish Springs Sport soap in the mountains, and now whenever I use that soap I think of the mountains of Italy. So, take some good smelling soap with you next time you are in Italy, and you can be wisked back to the mountains every morning in the shower.

I've seen the endless ears of corn,
I've seen the lakes at the break of day,
And that shit takes my breath away"

What the hell were we thinking?
To give some insight to this trip. It was great. As you can see the locale was beautiful, but not a place two guys should be together. Sorry Mr. Bruns, but I would rather have my beautiful girlfriend standing next to me.
The second or third day we requested the tour bus driver to drop us off at the nearest train station. You see, our German friend advised us to take this tour bus from Germany through Austria with a resort destination in the Italian Alps. Sounds great, except this tour bus was packed full of elderly Germans.
So after a couple of days of taking in the Italian Alps and exchanging smiles at our new friends. We decided to find the nearest train station and proceed onto Venezia. So, the bus comes to a halt and over the speaker we here a stern German accent say, "Americans Get Off!" Turns out, our German traveling companions were granting us our wishes and dropped us off at the nearest train station. Smiling and waving goodbye, our wise Germans continue on their way.
Then,a sureal moment happens. It's almost like turning a page in a book and anticipating what is going to be next. As the trail of dust from the bus begins to settle, we see these nuns walking. Behind them, we see this beautifully aged Italian stone church with its bells singing in an operatic way. And in the background, sat the Italian Alps.
Not a bad day. Not at all!

It's true. Very beautiful place Sterzing. My Mother and Brother were born there. And I have cousins who still love there. In 3 BC it was a Roman military camp.
